Kemira Oyj's acquisition of the American chemical company Cytec Industries, Inc.'s water treating and acrylamide business has been confirmed. Apart from the Botlek production plant located in the Netherlands, the transfer of the rest of Cytec's water treating and acrylamide business to Kemira ownership has been confirmed. The completion of the acquisition of the Botlek unit is expected to take place in early 2007.

In 2006, the revenue of the Cytec water treatment and acrylamide chemical business is estimated to amount to EUR 265 million and the company's staff employed in these businesses totals 480. The purchase price is approx. EUR 190 million. This acquisition is estimated to improve Kemira's earnings per share in 2007.

Cytec's water treatment chemicals product line consists of water treatment solutions for industrial and municipal water treatment plants. The acquisition includes five production plants located in the US (Mobile/Alabama, Longview/Washington, and Fortier/Louisiana), England (Bradford) and, when completed in early 2007, the Netherlands (Botlek). The company's market regions include the US, South America, Asia and Europe.

It also enables us to significantly broaden our current product portfolio and gain greater geographical presence in key markets and inside key customer segments," says Mats Jungar, President of Kemwater Business Area at Kemira.

Kemira is the leading global supplier of inorganic coagulants. The company offers water treatment and sludge treatment for municipal and private water treatment plants and industry. This acquisition almost doubles Kemira's water chemicals business turnover to approx. EUR 670 million. The company has a staff of almost 2,000 working in this business area. Kemira has water treatment chemicals production plants in 30 countries.
