The Swedish high-tech company Saab said on Friday (29 September) that its unit Saab Communication has, in consortium with the Norwegian company Baneservice AS, received a contract to provide a centralised traffic control system for the Gothenburg-Uddevalla section of the Bohusbanan railway in Sweden.
The contract, valued at SEK164m, covers signal and telecomms installations, track, heat exchanger installation, cable laying, installation of marshalling yard lighting, cable switchgear boxes, electrical power and remote controls, as well as project planning, delivery of equipment and material, ground, track and installation work and commissioning of the installations.
The new system will automate the currently manual traffic control on the railway, improving safety.
One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
