Norwegian engineering, construction and technology group Aker Kvaerner ASA said on Friday (8 December) that it has been awarded a letter of intent to provide an industrial-size, multifuel-fired boiler plant to Porin Prosessivoima Oy, Finland.
Kvaerner Power will deliver the power boiler to a new combined heat and power (CHP) plant at Finnish chemical group Kemiras factory in Pori on the west coast of Finland.
The power plant will be built by the new company Porin Prosessivoima Oy, which is part of Finnish energy company Pohjolan Voima Oy.
The new power plant will produce process steam for the adjacent factory, district heating for the nearby town of Pori and electricity.
The contract value to Aker Kvaerner is approximately EUR50m.
Aker Kvaerner is 50.1%-owned by Norwegian industrial holding group Aker Group. It has 23,000 employees in over 30 countries. Aker Kvaerner is traded on Oslo Stock Exchange under the symbol AKVER.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.49 euros (EUR).
