The Danish meat group Danish Crown said on Thursday (29 June) that its board of directors have proposed the closure of the pig slaughterhouse in Grindsted, Denmark.

The closing down of the slaughterhouse will affect 700 employees, but Danish Crown said that it expects to be able to offer employment to many of the affected workers at its other eight facilities.

Danish Crown on Thursday also said that it will discontinue its cutting operations in Vejle. The Vejle facility's 40 employees will be offered continued employment at other Danish Crown units.
