Gouda, The Netherlands, 9 October 2006 - IBM has selected Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) as a partner for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). SOA is one of the main spearheads of IBM's strategy. It is an innovative concept which enables business processes to be adapted quickly and cost-efficiently to ever-changing market conditions. To support its strategy, IBM has invited ten innovative business partners worldwide to market this new technology as 'innovation leaders'. Imtech is one of these partners and herewith expands its services.
The Imtech company chosen by IBM is Imtech ICT Eniac, an IBM Premier Partner, whose activities in the Benelux include implementing cutting-edge IBM software for Business Integration and People Productivity. Service Oriented Architecture helps companies make organisational and investment decisions. As a leading player in the Benelux, Imtech has developed a method for implementing SOA in the business services sector. Imtech has recently won contracts from customers including Qpark NV and Landal GreenParks.
René van der Bruggen, Chairman of the Board of Management of Imtech: 'By means of Service Oriented Architecture we enable companies to create an information system that can be adapted instantly to changed circumstances. At present it is not uncommon for information systems only to be modernised when major changes occur, like the implementation of an entirely new logistical system. But the market expects companies to respond ever-faster in their information management to new developments and to intensive co-operation in the supply chain. SOA is an innovative software architecture that in effect places a shell around existing software applications. This technology eliminates the interdependence between existing and new applications. SOA centres on the business process of companies, enabling them to focus more sharply on their own core business.'
Danielle Schuur, Director Software IBM Benelux: 'For IBM SOA forms a strategic spearhead. Imtech has not only proven to have mastered this technology, but also to already have applied this successfully in the middle segment of the market. SOA assists a company in making organisational decisions supported by technology, instead of making decisions based on the possibilities or restrictions of the applied technology.'
Imtech's recently acquired Fritz & Macziol, IBM Premier Partner and implementer of innovative IBM software in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is expected to start offering SOA solutions in the future.
Imtech's workforce of 15,000 includes 2,150 ICT employees. Besides being an IBM Premier Partner, Imtech is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. Intensification of co-operation with these two global market leaders is one of the cornerstones of Imtech's ICT strategy. This strategy has been explained separately in Imtech's recently published half-year report 2006.
