Reykjavik (IFN) Icelandic insurance group VIS is seeking acquisitions in Denmark in a move to expand its home market to Denmark and the UK, managing director Asgeir Baldursson told IFN on Wednesday.

Baldursson said that no formal talks had matured yet with any promising partners in Denmark, but added that VIS is determined to seek co-operation with local partners.

He said that the reason for the planned expansion into the Danish market is because of increased growth potental for VIS.

VIS agreed to acquire a 54% stake in UK-based insurance firm IGI Group last year, with an option to increase the stake to 75%.
