Swedish construction group NCC said on Tuesday (2 January) that it has agreed to sell its Polish asphalt, aggregate and paving subsidiary NCC Roads Poland to Australian group Strabag.
The debt-free sales price is SEK1,050m, which will result in a capital gain of approximately SEK400m.
NCC Roads Poland, based in Warsaw, has some 900 employees and reported sales of approximately SEK1.1bn in 2005. The company is a leading player in asphalt, aggregates and paving in Poland with operations covering the entire value chain. The company produces some 1.3m tonnes of asphalt per year and has its own quarries and asphalt and aggregate production facilities.
"The reason we are selling the Polish Roads operations is that we want to focus the operations and future investments of NCC Roads on the Nordic region," commented Alf Goransson, CEO of NCC.
"By releasing capital from the Polish operations, we can continue to invest in growth in the Nordic market through organic growth and through acquisitions," Goransson added.
NCC, headquartered in Solna, Sweden, is a leading Nordic construction and property development company with 21,000 employees and annual sales of SEK50bn. NCC is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 13.49 Swedish kronor (SEK).
