Nordic Business Report-January 8, 2007-Nokia introduces the Nokia 6131 NFC phone (C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia (NYSE: NOK) introduced on Monday (8 January) the worlds first fully integrated, commercial Near Field Communications (NFC) handset, the Nokia 6131 NFC phone, which will enable mobile payment, ticketing and information sharing with one tap of the device. Nokia said that the addition of NFC technology to a full featured mobile device adds a new level of capability by leveraging the phones computing power, wireless Internet access and user interface. NFC technology allows mobile phone users to access interactive features. For example, touching an NFC-enabled advertising poster or informational kiosk can automatically link the user to interactive Internet based information, open an audio file, or download new content directly to the handset. The Nokia 6131 NFC phone also includes a built-in digital music player with microSD card support and FM stereo radio. It is expected to be available in selected markets during the first quarter of 2007. Nokia, headquartered in Espoo in Finland, is a global mobile phone and network equipment manufacturer. It has nearly 59,000 employees worldwide, and reported net sales of EUR34.19bn in 2005. Nokia is listed on the Helsinki, Stockholm, Frankfurt and New York stock exchanges.
