The Norwegian data backup and storage products supplier Tandberg Data ASA unveiled on Wednesday (4 October) preliminary plans for reorganising the company after its recent acquisition and merger with Exabyte.

Tandberg Data has previously said that it aims at obtaining cost synergies of at least USD10m, beginning in the first quarter of 2007.

"Preliminary analyses show that the best option is to locate our research and development activities in Boulder, USA, with the exception of a small and specialised department working with band stations, to be localised in Oslo, Norway," Tandberg Data said.

"The plan is to move the service function to Tandberg Data's Singapore office, while sales and marketing will be based partly on Exabyte's business in the USA and partly on Tandberg Data's businesses in Europe/Asia," Tandberg Data added.

One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.52 British pounds (GBP).
