The Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards ASA said on Thursday (12 October) that it has received an order for a second roll-on/roll-off passenger RoPax vessel from the departmental council of Morbihan in Brittany, France.
The new vessel, to be built at Aker Yards' shipyard in Lorient in France, will be a sister ship to the Bangor, delivered in June.
The new vessel will carry 450 passengers and will provide services to the island of Groix in Brittany.
The order is valued at EUR13m.
Aker Yards, part of the Norwegian multi-industry group Aker Group, has some 20,000 employees at 17 yards in Brazil, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Romania and Ukraine.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.48 euros (EUR).
