AMS-IX is the world's largest Internet Exchange, with over 250 International members including the world's largest Carriers, content providers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), mobile operators and Internet Centric organisations such as Google and Akamai. At the Internet exchange, the networks of Internet Service Providers, telecommunications carriers, content providers, hosting providers and the like, meet to exchange IP traffic with one another. In addition to the traditional data IP peering traffic, AMS-IX also facilitates new traffic types, be that VoIP, IP-TV, broadcasting, multicast peering as well as mobile peering worldwide. The multi-year agreement sees euNetworks delivering an integrated high power-density, secure, colocation facility for the hosting of AMS-IX photonic switches, which are then redundantly connected, via forty four dedicated private fiber networks, to AMS-IX's distributed exchange locations throughout Amsterdam. Not only is AMS-IX the world's largest Internet exchange (in November 2006 AMS-IX surpassed 200 Gigabits per second across its switch fabric), but also one of the fastest growing (at an average of 7 % per month traffic increase) Internet exchanges. Hence the provision of private fiber networks from euNetworks, not only delivers the fastest, lowest latency network available to support AMS-IX's traffic, but also enormous scalability for future projected growth. "Our members, who number some of the worlds largest carrier and Internet organisations, demand the highest levels of security, performance, and above all, availability from AMS-IX. EuNetworks was the one single provider who could provide us with both secure, scalable and highly-available colocation and a private fiber network solution," said Job Witteman, Chief Executive Officer, AMS-IX. "As owners and operators of the highest capacity network in Europe, euNetworks are uniquely positioned to provide the vast amount of fiber required to support our existing and future carrier and service providers who increasingly connect via 10Gbit/s switches to AMS-IX." " This is a very exciting partnership for euNetworks. We are delighted to be providing mission critical hosting and connectivity infrastructure for AMS-IX, the worlds largest and fastest growing Internet Exchange," said Noel Meaney, Chief Executive Officer, euNetworks. "In addition to providing the AMS-IX core-platform, with our all-optical European fiber network, we can provide the massive, cost-efficient and redundant connectivity to the range of firms across Europe looking to peer directly at the world's largest Internet exchange at the AMS-IX Edge sites." Integrated Solutions euNetworks' focus is large-scale, bespoke solutions designed and deployed around the fiber and datacenter infrastructure. The expansion into the Amsterdam datacenter enables euNetworks to provide best-in class co-location services - allied to on-line storage solutions -such as managed storage, on-line archiving and disk based back up- for its many clients throughout Europe. The datacenter is serviced by multiple carriers, including euNetworks own all-fibre optic network which uniquely combines 'long-haul' inter-city network linking Germany, Netherlands, UK, France, and Belgium with high density 'last-mile' metropolitan fiber networks in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hanover, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, London and Dublin.
