STOCKHOLM (Dow Jones)--The Scandinavian airline SAS AB (SAS.SK) and the low-cost Sterling airline Monday said they have canceled flights to Egypt as anti-Danish sentiment spreads in the region.

Sterling, which is owned by Iceland's FL Group HF (FL.IC), said it has canceled all flights between Copenhagen and Cairo after Feb. 11, and until further notice.

SAS Denmark, SAS' Danish arm, said it has canceled a chartered flight that was to fly 162 passengers to the Egyptian resort of Sharm Al Sheik. SAS said only the charter flight was canceled and its regular route service to the region remained unaffected.

Protests through much of the Muslim world have been fueled by caricatures of Muhammad, first published in a Danish newspaper and then also picked up by other European media.
