Market for redevelopment, re-use and renovation of buildings in London is picking up
Gouda, The Netherlands, 24 May 2006 - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has received recent orders worth almost 50 million euro for technological solutions in various redevelopment, renovation and alternative building use projects in London.
In the Greater London Area, Imtech (Meica Services) is one of the major technical services providers, with a wide range of activities in the markets for retail enterprise, offices, education, luxury flats, health care, events and rail-related activities. The market for technical services is developing favourably, primarily as a result of the fact that the number of initiatives for the redevelopment of sizeable locations is increasing. In addition, new use is being found for existing buildings, including many of historical interest, and luxury department stores are investing in technological renovation and refitting of their retail premises.
In projects of this type, Imtech takes on full responsibility in many cases for the entire technological infrastructure: energy (gas, water, electricity), air and climate (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), electrical engineering, security and fire safety and all or parts of the ICT infrastructure.
Real estate development company Hammersons has commissioned contractor Bovis Land Lease and Imtech to redevelop the former London Stock Exchange Building into an exclusive office building. A building team consisting of contractor Costain and Imtech are redeveloping the historic Northumberland House in Trafalgar Square, in which the Ministry of Defence had its office for many decades, into a combination of hotel, restaurants, bars and 360 residential units for students of The London School of Economics and Political Science. In High Wycombe, on the outskirts of London, existing buildings are being redeveloped into a shopping centre and bus terminal with food and drink outlets on the initiative of Multiplex. In addition, Imtech is responsible for the technological renovation and refitting of the prestigious department stores Selfridges and John Lewis in Oxford Street, London's most exclusive shopping street. Imtech is also carrying out similar activities for the Fortnum & Mason department store.
