Imtech's strategy for Eastern Europe proves its value Gouda, the Netherlands, 5 December 2006 - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has won orders worth around 50 million euro in Romania. Romania is one of the countries in Eastern Europe that Imtech has defined as a focal point in its growth strategy. Imtech is currently conducting a search from within the Netherlands to find suitable projects in connection with this. Also the company has its own competence centre for exporting technology to Romania (in Munich), as well as a support base in Bucharest. Romania's gross national product is growing rapidly (2004: 8.3 percent, 2005: 4.5 percent) thanks to a combination of increasing private consumption and improving foreign investments. Romanian industry is also developing well, which is clear from increasing investments in technology. The Romanian gas industry is investing heavily in improving its production facilities by implementing high-tech gas metering stations, for example. Imtech (two Netherlands-based companies: Imtech Industry Analyser Systems and Imtech Vonk) has been appointed as partner for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC partner) in connection with this. Using advanced and reliable methods, the modular stations measure gas production volumes, the related energy level and deliveries to the customers concerned. Imtech has received orders to supply nine of the stations, including hardware, software, power distribution and control systems, with an option for dozens more stations in the future. All the technical modules are prefabricated in the Netherlands (in Tholen, Coevorden and Bergen op Zoom) and the entire package is then distributed to various locations in Romania for implementation on site, under Imtech's supervision. Imtech works from within Germany (Imtech Deutschland) for existing German customers who are focusing on increasing private consumption in Romania. Imtech has already provided the complete technological infrastructure for 14 Selgros Cash & Carry wholesale markets in Romania, which have a size of 15,000 m². These are projects in which Imtech has full responsibility for planning, engineering, implementing and commissioning technology for, amongst other things, heating, ventilation, cooling, sanitary facilities, fire safety and security. Imtech currently has received orders for a further three wholesale markets in Iasi, Suceava and Galati. The German builder's merchant group, Hornbach, has appointed Imtech as its preferred partner for a similar series of projects in Romania. Imtech also works from within Germany (Imtech Deutschland) for existing German customers who invest in production locations in Romania. Imtech recently provided the entire technical infrastructure for a new plant of British American Tobacco (BAT) in Ploiesti. Imtech is not only doing well in Romania, but also in Poland and the Czech Republic.
