Jelmoli Holding Ltd has acquired a majority participation in Preisinsel AG, a Swiss Internet retailer operating under two website names: www.preisinsel.ch and www.netto24.ch. Founded in 1999, Preisinsel AG with registered offices in Baar (ZG) and sales premises in Sihlbrugg is Switzerland's largest Internet retailer of consumer electronics. A full offering of office equipment will also go on line within the next few weeks to make www.netto24.ch by far the biggest and most comprehensive Swiss web discounter.
The two company founders Markus and Lukas Thoma retain their key business role and participation notwithstanding sale of the majority shareholding to Jelmoli, whose retail trade segment is strengthened thereby with promising e-tailing business potential (electronic retailing). Centralway Holding AG has sold its minority shareholding to Jelmoli Holding Ltd as well.
As a Jelmoli Holding subsidiary, Preisinsel AG will continue to operate as an independent company with its own purchasing and marketing strategy.
