Nordea's customers in Finland can now design a personal payment card. They can choose a self-taken picture or select one from the bank's photo gallery. - Nordea's customers have nearly two million cards to which it will be possible to add a personal picture. One of them will be the Visa Debit card, the "successor" of the bank card, next autumn, says Markku Siitonen, Head of Nordea's Cards unit in Finland. - Customers can create a unique card with a digital photo. Alternatively, they can select a picture they like from Nordea's photo gallery, which contains pictures of nature, animals, music and arts. Among the art pictures, some of artist Riitta Nelimarkka's works are available, and in the near future also a few national classics from the collection of Art Foundation Merita. Nordea is also evaluating completely new types of cards that add new dimensions in terms of look and feel. The options under consideration include cards with a texture such as with jeans cloth and cards with a mirror. At the first stage, a picture can be attached to Nordea's MasterCard, MasterCard Gold and Visa Electron. During the spring 2007, customers will be provided with the possibility of ordering a Visa and a Visa Gold card with a picture. However, it is not possible to select a picture for a bank card or an ATM card, as these cards will no longer be provided in the years to come due to the international SEPA requirements. The picture card service is most extensive in Nordea's Netbank: there customers can design their own cards or use the photo gallery. A picture can be ordered for a card from the options of the gallery at any Nordea branch or by phone in Customer Service. A personalised card will cost 12 euros.
