Swedish IT security company Pointsec Mobile Technologies AB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Protect Data AB, said on Wednesday (12 April) that it had entered into partnership with Hitachi Software Engineering Co Ltd (HitachiSoft).
As the first step in the collaboration HitachiSoft has obtained OEM (original equipment manufacturer) rights from Pointsec for its flagship product, Pointsec for PC.
The product protects against information leakage from lost, stolen or discarded notebooks and PCs through full-disk encryption.
HitachiSoft would distribute Pointsec for PC under the name Hibun AE Full Disk Encryption (Hibun AE FDE) as part of its Hibun series of products.
HitachiSoft and Pointsec plan to further strengthen their partnership by exploring mutual OEM opportunities as well as the potential co-development of new products.
