The Swedish forestry group Sodra announced on Friday (17 March) that it has decided to increase the price on long fibre softwood pulp by USD20 to USD650 per tonne. "Deliveries are high, inventories are low and demand looks generally good," said Ulf Edman, president of Sodra Cell International. "Despite increasing demand on paper, many paper producers still have problems with their profitability, though. That is why the price increase is limited to USD20, despite the strong market balance," Edman added. One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.57 British pounds (GBP).
