By communicating gross prices as early as mid-March SWISS took on a trendsetting role in Switzerland. Under new regulations enacted by Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs regarding pricing and advertising, all airlines in Switzerland must advertise gross prices as of June 1. SWISS welcomes this new policy as it increases pricing transparency for customers.
SWISS now includes the Internet service fee, whenever applicable, in its pricing communication. To simplify communication even further, SWISS prices now include a service fee of CHF 0.- to CHF 25.- on bookings made over swiss.com. For customers wishing individual assistance through a SWISS travel agency or SWISS Call Center, the service fee amounts to CHF 50 for flights within Europe and CHF 80 for intercontinental flights. Travel agencies determine their own service fees independently.
SWISS customers departing from Switzerland now know immediately how much their travel will cost in total, as fuel surcharge, airport taxes and service fees for Internet bookings are all included in the advertised price.
