(technical service provider in Europe) announces its acquisition of Seacoast Electronics Inc. USA. Seacoast Electronics is a full-service maritime contractor and service provider with a strong position in the US maritime market. The acquisition fits in with Imtech's strategy for further growth in the global maritime market for construction, maintenance and services and contributes directly to the profit per share. The acquisition price came to 4.5 million euro, including earn-out, and was paid in cash. René van der Bruggen, Chairman of Imtech's Board of Management, is pleased about the acquisition: 'Although the acquisition is not that large, it still means a sizeable step forward on the US maritime market. We are now finally managing to establish a network of American relations around the US Marine Corps, something that is nearly impossible to set up from Europe. The acquisition of Seacoast Electronics helps to reinforce this position. Profile of Seacoast Electronics Seacoast Electronics (established in 1956) is a maritime player with an excellent network of business relations. The head office is situated in Jacksonville, Florida. Seacoast provides a vast clientele with solutions in the field of computerisation, shipboard bridges, information technology, navigation, fire safety, alarm systems and monitoring. These services are delivered from a total of six branches along both the east coast (Florida, New Orleans, Norfolk, Mobile) and the west coast (Seattle). The focus lies mainly on naval vessels of the US Marine Corps and commercial ships. It concerns system integration, maintenance, repairs, and upgrading and new-build construction projects. The network of Seacoast branches closely corresponds with the branches of the US Marine Corps, for which a great deal of maintenance activities are carried out. An extensive engineering division caters specifically for the new-build construction projects. With a staff of 50, annual revenue comes to some 15 million dollar. Because the organisation has reached the maximum scope autonomously possible, co-operation with Imtech is the natural next step. The 'fit' with Imtech The acquisition will serve to significantly increase the scope of Imtech in the USA (making cost efficiency and purchasing advantages possible) and expand its network of branches. Imtech will, via Seacoast, gain direct access to a market that is relatively inaccessible to European enterprises: the naval vessels of the US Marine Corps. This is an appealing prospect, because Imtech carries out work for the national marines in some 20 countries and seems to be able to create significant added value by means of outstanding computerisation solutions. The activities also match well with Imtech and the in 2006 acquired Radio Holland Group focussing on maintenance and service with regard to luxury yachts, commercial shipping and offshore and Seacoast concentrating on maintenance and service on naval vessels and new-build construction. The engineering division of Seacoast can now also be utilised to a greater extent. In conclusion, the integrated bridge systems of Imtech, that are already popular in Europe, China and the Far East, can also be offered in the USA through the collaboration with Seacoast.
