Getronics announced today that it has signed a three-year contract with Independent News & Media PLC, one of the world's leading international media and communications groups, with interests in Australia, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. Independent News & Media PLC selected Getronics to partner with its own internal IT technical team to design, implement, manage and host a new content management system (Escenic) for the websites of four of its leading newspapers, the Irish Independent, the Sunday Independent, the Independent and the Belfast Telegraph. Independent News & Media manages some of the largest news websites in Ireland and the UK. Rapid developments in the media sector, the changing needs of online consumers and growing digital opportunities led Independent News & Media to adopt a new enterprise content management system. Getronics will host the websites at its datacentre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and editors across the group will use Getronics' 'Smart Access' system to access the site safely and securely from anywhere in the world. Following a rigorous selection process, Getronics was chosen because of its extensive knowledge and experience within the world of media and publishing in general, and for its expertise in the Escenic Content Management System.
