Pöyry's Energy business group has been awarded the engineering design services contract for the Qatar Petroleum Ras Laffan common cooling seawater system Phase II by Dodsal Pte. Ltd., Singapore, the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) contractor for the project. The initial estimated value of the contract is EUR 17 million and the first milestone of the project is estimated to be completed in 19 months.

Pöyry will provide multi-discipline design engineering services, including extensive hydraulic modelling, physical model testing, pipelines and process engineering. The project features GRP pipelines with diameters of up to 4 metres and mega-pumps, and will raise the system's capacity from 310 000 to 835 000 cubic metres/h.

The services will be provided by Pöyry's offices in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, further extending Pöyry's operations in the Middle East. The award of the project reflects the successful execution of the front end engineering design for Phase I and Pöyry's strategy of extending its portfolio of services throughout the value chain.

The goal of Pöyry's Energy business group is to expand its oil and gas design engineering services with specific focus on providing high value-added services tailored to meet the clients' business objectives.

Pöyry is a global consulting and engineering firm focusing on the energy, forest industry and infrastructure & environment sectors. Pöyry's annual net sales amount to about EUR 530 million and it employs 5700 experts.
