SAS Cargo Group A/S, the cargo transport division of the Scandinavian airline SAS, said on Wednesday (28 September) that it would take over the Danish budget airline Sterling's freight activities, formerly Maersk Air Cargo, from 1 October 2005. The takeover includes the freight sales agency for eight foreign airlines in the Nordic and Baltic countries and also 22 employees. The acquisition is part of SAS Cargo's long-term strategy for growth and gaining of market share. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
